Salt and sacrifice trophies11/11/2023 ![]() Either that or the game was rushed and they didn't have enough time to balance endgame. Later into development, they realized how fucking overpowered many of them are and overcompensated by just making bosses deal insane damage. From is trying to compensate for ash summons. I think we all know why bosses in particular do so much damage by endgame. ![]() Unfortunately, FromSoft doesn't give you much to compensate other than the lazy advice of "Don't get hit" (or the even lazier design choice of ash summons). Damage numbers in general are much much higher in Elden Ring compared to previous titles. Even normal enemies do a crapton of damage in endgame. It's not just one shots that are the issue either. The dual wielding banished knights for example have a stunlock combo that can one shot most builds. There's a lot of attacks that can one shot you in Elden Ring and some of them aren't as well telegraphed as you'd think. As you said, it already hits a softcap by 40. If vitality actually did more by endgame I would be fine with it, the issue is that it doesn't. There's an issue when I have 60 vitality + wear heavy armor but bosses and enemies still do way too much fucking damage. I'm not complaining about the stat investment, I'm complaining about the damage numbers. The issue is that it doesn't even matter how much vitality you have in Elden Ring. In fact most of my builds have 60 vitality. ![]() So again, if you're so reluctant to invest into Vitality, then your only solution is don't get hit, or at least don't get hit by those that will one shot you. It would be a bad design if Vitality stat is not investable, but it is just becasue you are reluctant to invest into it doesn't make it bad design. It is not bad design that Vitality is there to soak up damage, it is your choice for not investing into that stat. I'm curious on how you're spreading your stats if you think 40 Vitality is a major investment. If you have 40 Vitality and 25 Vigor, you still got around 85 points to spend in whatever you wish. At this level you should be able to hit the second soft cap of two stats, more if you only aim for the first soft cap (40 Vitality is the first soft cap). Your build doesn't suddenly become a super tanky character when you level Vitality, it is just there to give you more room for mistakes when trying to not get hit.īy the way, 40 Vitality is not a big investment by the time you hit late game, where your level should be around 150s or higher. Sure, you still get one shoted at 40 Vitality, but those are the heavily telegraphed attacks, and you should avoid getting hit by those anyway even if you have like 60+ Vitality. But seriously, how are you expecting not to get one shoted if you don't plan on investing into Vitality? That stat is there to soak up damage, and if you are so reluctant to invest into Vitality, then your only solution is don't get hit.Ĥ0 Vitality is by no mean the number you must reach in order to not get one shot by every thing, that stat is just a soft cap where once you get past it your Vitality stat becomes less effective at increasing your HP, and you can definitely get away from many smaller hits even under 40 Vitality.
